Well, 2 years ago I ordered my Christmas meat from Gavin Pittman (Butcher Gav) Yorkshire Craft Butchery and it was sublime!
Last year I missed the cut off point, so I ordered from a local butcher down south… immediately on seeing my order I felt deflated… the presentation was nothing like Gavin’s (e.g hardly any bacon on the turkey and no fat on the sirloin roast)… I was so disappointed that I actually considered not going through with the transaction. Ultimately it was “ok” but not a patch on the previous year.
This year I got in early! Christmas meat ordered by early November… I had it delivered down south, and was so happy when I saw the quality!
The way the turkey is wrapped in the most delicious bacon…, the fat on the sirloin, the crackling layer on the pork , the presentation of the gammon joint (for ham), and the pigs in blankets and sausage meat sticks looked great!
Needless to say, each of the joints were outstanding once cooked… one my daughter’s (who doesn’t like turkey), was so tempted by how it looked, she voted it as her No 2 meat (the ham was her favourite).
The leg of pork was delish and gave me the best ever cracking, the gammon produced the juiciest ham, and the sirloin was perfect!
